Department of Energy Deputy Secretary Visits USC
October 14, 2015
The USC Energy Institute hosted Department of Energy, Deputy Secretary Elizabeth Sherwood Randall on September 16, 2015. Dr. Donald Paul, executive director, introduced the Deputy Secretary to the Energy Institute’s efforts, including research at Chevron’s sponsored center, CiSoft, DWP’s sponsored project, Smart Grid, and Northrop Grumman’s sponsored lab, LESS. Emerging research about the Water and Energy Nexus was also presented by Dr. Kelly Sanders and her PhD student, Rebecca Peer. Dr. Sherwood Randall also displayed great attention in learning the status of DOE funded projects; however, it was obvious that her true interest was engaging with the students performing the research.
A former university president; a retired Northrop Grumman CTO; a Cambridge scholar;
and a global robotics leader join USC Viterbi as senior faculty.
