Mission Statement

Our missionĀ is to become a leader in cross-disciplinary energy research that will sustainably generate both short and long term energy solutions.

Our work at the USCEI leads a university wide endeavor that incorporates elements of science, technology, policy and the impacts of climate change and pollution on all levels to generate both short and long term energy solutions.

Our research focuses on the prospects, production, and consumption of renewable energy sources that will serve as the sustainable replacement for conventional non-renewable energy sources.

We coordinate the smooth transition of policies, technologies, and capital investments required to implement a successful clean energy economy. Our concentrations also continue to improve on the extraction, energy-efficiency, and storage of carbon-based fuels.

Some of our key strategic initiatives include

  • Developing new renewable energy technology
  • Increasing energy efficiency
  • Improving the efficiency of conventional fuels
  • Understanding consumer behavior
  • Evaluating the impacts of climate change
  • Studying environmental impacts
  • Designing the Smart-Grid
  • Solving energy water problems

Our goal is to improve the way we extract, transform, and use conventional and alternative energy resources in order to reduce global reliance on fossil fuels. We strive to promote innovative solutions to the energy challenges of today and the alternative energy sources of tomorrow.

The focus of our university-wide integrated research endeavor is on the technological development and deployment of new sustainable energy and fuel resources. We facilitate a dialogue among researchers that enables research teams to inform stakeholders and decision-makers in both the government and the private sector concerning conventional and alternative fuels, energy efficiency, the impacts of climate change and pollution, and the economic and policy implications of the transition to a new energy paradigm over the next decade.

The USCEI integrates R&D across the energy spectrum- From fossil fuels to renewables, energy efficiency change, water, and societal interactions.
